We haven't had Marta's coffee up since '23 , though we've bought it every year since 2018. Many producers in emerging markets or who have little or compromised access to good processing infrastructure appear to struggle with consistency even if they have done everything "correctly". Sometimes the mill or transit post- milling brings down a coffee's performance/score. These are the notes from the last time we had Marta's coffee on the menu:

"For the first time since 2019, we are featuring Marta's coffee.  There have been some tough harvests and bad logistics complicating easy post harvest processing - which makes it hard to show her coffee reliably... but that's all past We would have bought Marta's coffee even if it tasted like dirt. She's a key member of the Mataquescuintla group, a representative member of the Xinka parliament and someone we aligned with early so she has a commitment year to year."

The coffee is especially delicious this year ('25), big sweetness, subtle fruit, soft buoyant cups. Loads of milk chocolate, almond, cherry. We're so pleased to put her name up.
