Sierra Mixé growers are in the eastern region of Sierra Norte in Northeastern Oaxaca. This is a pooled lot of caturra, bourbon and typica varieties - fully washed. It has become a point of basic frustration to try to get some attention paid to the beautiful coffees of this area and washed Oaxacan coffees in general (see Yosotatu, from Mixteca further West) amidst a buying market that currently prizes high fruit/ferment and bracing, sometimes false, acidity. Clean, subtle, well processed coffees are the ticket to market access for formerly excluded producers. These coffees will disappear from your cup because they are gulpable - maybe not a proper dictionary word but you know what it means - not flashy. Cacao nibs, maraschino, almond, milk chocolate, honey.
